9 schools to compete in this year’s street dancing competition

Nine high schools will compete this year in one of the most celebrated events of North Cotabato’s foundation anniversary celebrations, the Hinugyaw Sa Karsada Street Dancing Competition slated on September 1, 2008 at the provincial capitol grounds.   

These include Alamada and Carmen High Schools , Magpet, Matalam and Tulunan National High Schools , Malamote, Lampayan, and Malinao High Schools of Matalam and Kisante High School of Makilala.

With the aim to compete and be at par with modern and global information technology, the Provincial Government of North Cotabato in partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Provincial Office conducted the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Cellphone Repair Skills Competition on August 19, 2008 at the Capitol Rooftop, Amas, Kidapawan City.

KIDAPAWAN CITY, North Cotabato – North Cotabato Vice Governor Emmanuel F. Piñol has declared his vehement opposition to any attempt of reviving the ILAGA. 

In his weekly radio program over stations DXND here and DXMS in Cotabato City, Piñol called on individuals behind the reported reorganization of the group to desist from doing so, or he will use everything within his capacity as a government official to have the Philippine National Police and Armed Forces of the Philippines run after them.

MANILA, Philippines -- (UPDATE 3) President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has no authority to delegate the creation of the Bangsamoro Juridical Entity (BJE), a Supreme Court justice said, shortly after the President’s chief negotiator admitted that he was not authorized to sign the agreement with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front.

VG Piñol proposes dev't program for conflict areas

NORTH COTABATO Vice Governor Emmanuel Piñol proposed a development program among conflict affected barangays in Mindanao while the discussion on the memorandum of understanding on the ancestral domain issue is being heard in the Supreme Court.

He said he will propose the program, "Invest in Peace," not only to investors in Mindanao but also those from other areas. Piñol said since the issue of conflict is rooted on the lack of support in poor communities, it would be beneficial to urge the top 200 corporations of the country as a start to adopt barangays in conflict affected areas. He said every year there will be 200 barangays which would be matched with companies that could provide financial support in areas of capability building for leaders, improvement of educational system, health needs among others.

 
Erap calls for all-out war - Palace sees 'urgent' need to review peace talks

FORMER President Joseph Estrada yesterday called for an all-out war against Moro Islamic Liberation Front in the face of renewed attacks by the secessionist group in Mindanao.

Estrada also called for the suspension of the peace negotiations with the MILF. He said the solution to the ongoing crisis in Mindanao is to stop giving concessions to the group.
